If you've been paying attention to most of the messages, concerning this
instability issue, you'll notice that the hot key, control-alt-W, in many
cases does not work to bring speech back again. It almost never works for
me, and a hard reboot must be done to bring WE back. I've said it before,
and will say it again, WE-9, is the crashiest version of WE ever!

Subject: Re: stability versus new browse mode
Butch,
My experience has been the opposite of yours. I was finding that the
new dynamic web pages were becoming more difficult if not impossible to
read until the new brows mode was released. It is true that there is a
minor stability issue with the new brows mode, but I know this issue is
being addressed. Remember, you can always hit alt control W to restart
speech if it stops. The new brows mode makes possible the reading of
constantly changing web content. Thank yew to the Window Eyes
development team!

Hello, I had been using a windows 7 laptop running wineyes 7.5, and it was
fairly stable. When I finally upgraded to wineyes 9.1, the new browse mode
could not perform the same tasks as the earlier version of wineyes. It kept
freezing up while I was on the web doing the same tasks as I had done while
running wineyes 7.5. Pressing control, alt, W did nothing. I had to do a
cold boot everytime. After using 9.1 for a couple of weeks, I had to
uninstall it and go back to an earlier version. This time I installed 8.4,
and it works as well as when I was running wineyes 7.5. So, to get the
benefits of the new browse mode, I would have to sacrifice stability. For
me, wineyes 9 was a waste of money. I can't even use it. I mean what good is
a silent screen reader. I have been using wineyes since the 1990's, and I
have never been this disappointed. The new browse mode is so dysfunctional
that it should be in beta.
