Some people directly report specific problems in specific areas of the software directly to RITlabs. RITlabs issues a "fix" release to see if it cures the problem. The fix release is targeted at the reporter of the bug and at that person/company only. The fix release is usually posted where TB aficionados know where to find it and RITlabs thus gain collateral corroboration that the fix release is/is not working in general. At some point confidence in the release reaches the point at which RITlabs make the release available to the general public. This is not meant to imply a clique or anything like it. I think that Dierk's brevity was misleading in that respect. I hope the above explanation goes some way to clarifying what he meant by it. I don't personally condone the practice of "stealth" betas but at the same time I don't like to see bugs persist just for the sake of "form" in adhering to strict codes of practice. Nor do I condone the issuing of "fix" releases without knowing what's been fixed... It's not an ideal world but I'd see fixes than bugs, even if I don't know what the fixes are or have never seen the bugs in the firstplace. - -- Cheers -- .\\arck D.
