I have to second Gene's experience about taking over an existing group v. starting one from scratch. The worst time I ever had was inheriting someone else's team. On the other hand, I've had great success when I've started from scratch and built things up. (If only the companies had been as successful as their doc groups were, the world would be a better place and I would be wealthy.)
