Hmm.., if that is the case it would only need adding a
[[DepreciatedStyleSheet]] tiddler transcluded from the regular
StyleSheet - if one updated an existing document - and which could be
left out, if starting with a new one?

If I'm right with this assumption, than I can only say to..

Don't hesitate, go ahead without hesitation or much discussion! - If
the community really disliked some changes it would be heard here -
and could easily be reverted with the next release. And backward
compatibility is easily taken care of with only a view lines of a
DepreciatedStyleSheet tiddler.
