Couldn't it be that the difficulty isn't a resistance to 'CSS love for
TW' - but a 'love to TW CSS' (css = styles taken here more generally)

That's a good point about leaving it as it is forever I haven't even
considered yet. The first thing after opening a blank TW: I seriously
want to change that Redmont blue of the header... and before realizing
one already plodded a bid in html, css and javascript. Sort of
involuntarily though ;-(
