To illustrate the problem that have getting started with OpenERP, take a look at this image from SQL-Ledger. (note: LedgerSMB is a fork of SQL-Ledger).

If you want to add a customer, you just click "Add Customer" if you want a vendor invoice, just click "Vendor Invoice." You must admit, this is far more intuitive than the initial install of OpenERP. I am sure OpenERP has advantages over LedgerSMB.
