Maybe you are right, greno. Maybe I just got frustrated, and posted too soon.

The example I gave in my original post: "let's suppose I want to add an item to
my inventory, how do I do that?" That seems like a specific enough question, to
me. But what I would really prefer is adequate documentation so that I would
not even have to ask the question. As it is, I install and run the product, and
I am looking at a blank screen, I have no idea what to do. I go to the online
documentation, and that does help either. So I turn to the community, and I am
not getting any real help here either. Can you understand my frustration?

When I installed the all-in-one, I could not find any modules that would
actually do anything useful. I tried to install some modules, but they would
not install. Somebody posted that the all-in-one install was 4.2, and the
modules are supposed to work with 4.3, or something like that. How am I
supposed to know which modules work with which versions?

Then please document the version for which the module has been tested. And
document which other modules are needed for a particular module to work. And
document known issues. Please do not force your users to play a pointless
hit-or-miss guessing game with hundreds of modules.

I have no problem with that. But, before I even think about becoming a
craftsman, I would like to know if this is a viable product for me. I would
like to evaluate the product. Actually, I thought the purpose of the all-in-one
install was to do just that - i.e. an easy way to evaluate the product.
Instead, I found the all-in-one install pointless - I could install openerp,
but I could not do anything once it was installed.

I think an erp would be great. I also thought that OpenERP looked promising.
Unfortunately, my attempts to evaluate the product have been frustrating
experiences. Also, I do not think I am the first person to complain about
inadequate documentation, or broken modules.
