Tivo uses the Discovery channels to download stuff. From what I was told some time ago it is actually downloading using a subchannel. Tivo changes my cable box to channel 25 at 4:05 AM when it does its download. The red recording light comes on but nothing appears in the "now playing" lineup. If you try to make the daily call into Tivo while this is going on you will get the message that it is updating via satellite. So you can't do both updates at the same time. On occasion it has used channel 39 for this update. For quite a while I kept wondering why my cable box was on channel 25 in the morning when I hadn't watched or recorded anything on that channel the night before. Then I read the explanations for it.

It happens once or twice a week. It now seems to be happening much less often than it used to.
