Not quite - the Service Data Download and the showcase/promo content both use broadcasts on Discovery (and have also used other channels like A&E and TLC, IIRC), but they're not the same thing. There have been promos and showcase updates since the last SDD. And while if your unit doesn't record an SDD it will grab the data via network or phone, if the unit misses a promo it will *not* grab the data via other means.
