There is no need for an M-Card on a Series3 at all. There is no real reason to use one. It just doesn't matter if you use one or not. The S3 needs two CableCARDs, doesn't matter which type each one is. > I'm confused...I have the TiVo Series 3 Digital Media Recorder. It > is also High Definition. Model TCD648250B. Right, that's commonly called the Series3 or S3. > But it sounds like you are talking about two separate TiVo's that > are HD. I thought the S3 was the only HD on the market, as I have > the S2 also and it is not HD. So which one do I have and how many > cards will it require? Nope, there are TWO HD TiVo's on the market. The TCD648250B aka the Series3 and the TCD652160 aka the TiVo HD. The TiVo HD is actually in the 'Series3 family' and is newer (came out earlier this year, the S3 came out last fall). It has a smaller drive (160GB instead of 250GB), an S2-style remote instead of the 'Glo' remote the S3 has, and a simpler case with no on-box controls, no OLED display, etc. The TiVo HD can use one M-Card or two S-Cards, that's about the only feature it has that the S3 lacks. The S3 needs two cards as it doesn't support multistream at this time. -MZ -- megazone-at-megazone.org http://www.MegaZone.org/ Gweep, Geek, Human, me. http://www.TiVoLovers.com/ http://www.Eyrie-Productions.com/ -><- Hail Eris "A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men" 508-852-2171
