Could you tell me if removing one of the CC's would affect the channels as far
as clarity, and being available? Because when the
TiVo people told the Charter tech's that one of the card slot's was defective,
Charter removed the CC and took it away with them.
And since then I don't get any channels past advanced basic cable.(099) but I
subscribe to everything up to 999. Also the basic
channels that were HD and clear are not as much. I don't want to call and ask
them to bring it back unless I knew for sure that it
would have these affects. As far as the Messages told me, it just means that I
cannot record two programs at one time.

Thank you for explaining the difference in the HD TiVo's. I did not realize
that they came out with a new one this year. You made it
very clear how they are different and
I have a much better understanding now of the two. This makes what others have
said about their units make sense as they were
talking about another machine. Is one a Recorder (the TCD648250B and the other
not?)

There is no need for an M-Card on a Series3 at all. There is no real
reason to use one. It just doesn't matter if you use one or not. The
S3 needs two CableCARDs, doesn't matter which type each one is.

Right, that's commonly called the Series3 or S3.

Nope, there are TWO HD TiVo's on the market.

The TCD648250B aka the Series3 and the TCD652160 aka the TiVo HD.

The TiVo HD is actually in the 'Series3 family' and is newer (came out
earlier this year, the S3 came out last fall). It has a smaller drive
(160GB instead of 250GB), an S2-style remote instead of the 'Glo'
remote the S3 has, and a simpler case with no on-box controls, no OLED
display, etc.

The TiVo HD can use one M-Card or two S-Cards, that's about the only
feature it has that the S3 lacks. The S3 needs two cards as it
doesn't support multistream at this time.
