One other thing to check: do you have any DC offset on the input to the preamp?
The Touch has output caps, but they didn't hook them up right, there is no bias voltage across them. Amazingly enough this actually works pretty good as long as the input impedance is not too low. BUT if the preamp has a volt or two the wrong way it will actively unbias the cap which will cause all kinds of problems. For other devices that actually implemented their output caps correctly a volt or two of voltage on the preamp input won't be enough to unbias them. Just a thought.
