Well, I just thought that, considering the flow of emails on OLPC lists,
I'd better make it short :)

I think requiring useful HTTP logs isn't that useful as it puts the
burden on the wrong shoulders.

Considering Pootle is some kind of structured-wiki-over-CVS/dVCS, having
access to the last modification date and to the last active user on a
file seems quite reasonable to me.  

I'm fully aware that developing such a feature requires time, and I'm
only 10% aware of how much development effort it would require.  But I'm
also convinced that the effort of developing a nice and useful interface
for the HTTP logs would be a waste of time, as other Pootle projects
wouldn't benefit from it as easily.

Sure!  If each change if a commit in the translation database, then this
commit has a date and an author attached to it.  Let's make it visible.
