Hi Pru - I also struggled with this. I had the idea that pan-determined
meant being neutral.

There is a section "Terms used" extracted below in bold.  It may be worthwhile to re-look at the Tech dictionary defs. Eg. Tech dictionary: "One is Self-determined, then, in any situation in which he is fighting. He is pan-determined in any situation which he is controlling. (FOT, p. 50) 10. self-determinism meant, in essence, control by the awareness of awareness unit of that which it conceived to be its identity. (Dn55!, p. 98)

The Scio defs have the single viewpont of self being controlled by consciousness. They relate more to "intent" than to action.

The TROM "pan" relates to own and others action. Or being cause over another's actions.

Extract from TROM:
Terms Used.
All terms used in a special sense have been-defined within the text. However, a few terms have been used with the sense they are given in the subject of Scientology. I have used these terms because they are the most concise and meaningful available for the phenomena they describe. Their Scientology definitions follow:

Pan Determinism. (PD): Determining the action of self and others (non-self).(The word pan is derived from the Greek word for all).

Further he says, "It is a law of all games that overwhelming failure causes the being to compulsively adopt the pan-determined postulate of his opponent."

Which in effect means the being had a postulate for his opponent which the opponent could accept as complimentary or resist as conflicting and if s/he lost would then adopt the beings pan-determined postulate thus overwhelming own self-determinism.

Thanks Pete,

That helps a lot to clarify Dennis's intent with the term "Pan Determined".  I can understand that.

However, it is a shame that this is not explained in his actual materials because it is very confusing if one is used to the Scientology definition.  How did you work out his meaning?  Has Dennis written the definition somewhere else?

I wish he could have made a new description altogether although I have no idea what.  But to use an existing term but change the meaning of it - oh brother - that does my head in (but, of course, that is not hard to do - ha ha!).

To me wanting someone to "know" yr experience would only be pan determined if it included the option to "not know" as well.  But in Level 1A (Lvl 5) Dennis shows that the other forced self to know & self was "overwhelmed" - this did not include any option to "know or not know".

Do I understand correctly that the Pan Determined Postulate here is "Forced to know"?  Dennis stresses in the tape that it is very important to know what the Pan Determined Postulates are in Level 5 hence why I am making sure I understand this correctly from the start.
