Of course I don't mind Terry, glad to hear from you and I would love to agree - but I can't for several reasons.

Doesn't it bother you that the writers of two gospels out of three who describe this incident using different terminology from Mark and all three a recalling the same thing?  Since God is a God of order why would He contradict Himself like this in His Word ... using terms that are in opposition to one another?

The spirit who comes on "strong and overwhelming" is the other one Terry.  Remember when James & John were wanting to call fire down from heaven and Jesus told them they didn't know what spirit they were of? The Holy Spirit is quiet and gentle (like a dove); He can be grieved and vexed and is not given to great displays.

(I meant to respond the last time you wrote on this but got distracted). Could it be possible that your struggle with what to teach etc. was your flesh warring against the Spirit?  That would be normal.

As for the writing of the gospels that had to be supernatural because three of the gospels were written at least 27yrs after the crucifixion and the gospel of John as much as 57yrs later.  The disciples definitely had to have help. When I try to remember that far back ie what happened in 1977, (individual conversations and details) - I draw a blank... However, these apostles didn't need to be overpowered or overwhelmed by anything; they just had to cooperate so that the Holy Spirit could bring these things back to their remembrance.  At least this is how I see it.  judyt

Afternoon Judy.  Mind if I butt in?  I think what Bill is trying to convey is what Mark was trying to convey.  That being that the power of the Holy Spirit was so strong, the leading of the Spirit so overwhelming, that Jesus felt sompelled to go as the Spirit led.  In my opinion ,the same was true of those writing the scriptures, and in rare cases, in my own walk.
Can you see where that might be?  Terry

But you are not Bill?  You still want to believe that the Holy Spirit drives even though there are two
witnesses against one (supposed)?  No wonder things become so complicated....  jt
