To update, no significant developments, but a different ophthalmologist has 
entered the fray, tho his plan is basically to replace the 
really-complicated lens over dad's left eye with one that's at least a 
very-shady, if not solid, cover. Obviously glasses + a patch would have 
been a bit much.

I'd like to be able to cook more and different things for him, and yet in 
amounts half of which he won't have to throw out... the usual packaged 
stuff eventually draws complaints. OTOH, he barely ate the rotisserie 
chicken the other night, tender(er than a lot of things) as it was.
