If you want a bare minimum system in terms of power consumption etc. then you need to be prepared to compromise on performance.
I understand that the Buffalo Linkstation, for example, can run SlimServer but that it's not particularly fast. However, 'not particularly fast' might be adequate for your usage. Linkstations are good because they consume little power, they'll spin themselves down and they'll wake up when accessed. I use two of them at the moment, but I run my slimserver on a VIA based PC because I use it for other things such as web browsing, photo slideshows etc. I'd recommend you check out the other NAS systems mentioned in these forums, but bear in mind that you're never going to get a super-fast system with compromised hardware. -- dSw ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dSw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=362 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18586 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
