Long Term Support - is not a Linux specific term - it is term used by normal commercial users who want to make sure the system they choose is supported for a number of years and they won't have to upgrade to get help. For example Microsoft has only recently stopped supporting XP (i.e released in 2001 Mainstream support ended in 2009). For many users who want a simple life and do not want the latest version of UI and want a system to just tick over - they should choose an OS with a defined support timeframe. "Commercial" distros such as Ubuntu that have some source of external funding can give this assurance of support whereas community driven distros do not normally give such assurances. -- bpa ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90827 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
