Apologies if I'm not being clear.

I have a 2003 Sony Laptop, and a 2003 Evesham PC (Celeron). I moved
the laptop to Linux (see my previous post), and then tried the same on
the desktop.

Since I failed with the old desktop I'll carry on with SBS on my much
newer Windows desktop PC, and Linux on my laptop. It's not ideal, but
it works.

You'll have to forgive me if the information I'm being given leads me
to believe I could be trying several different versions before I get
something that suits me, and I really don't ant to experiment like
that. I'm sure to many people the differences between flavours of
linux are simple. I know myself well enough to know that I can be
completely thrown by relatively simple things, so thanks but it's not
for me.
