Bruce got it right: You can't install Panther on a Beige without a PCI Rage128 or Radeon video card. Motherboard video is not supported yet by the current version of XPostFacto.

now I must rush in, I have the rage 128 pci card pulled from a blue n white and panther (via xpf 3.0a11) stops with something like too old drivers and panics. Happens with a 7600 and a Supermac S900, I'm waiting for a radeon mac edition...

For a web server, however, all the other stats are probably good enough as I have a 10.2.8 web server with not much more (300MHz 512k L2 G3, 192 MB, 6GB HD, unaccelerated ixMicro Twin Turbo video and it works great).

I have now a g3 300 beige runing 10.1.5 with uptime of 60+days now and no reason to reboot it. 10.2 won't install on this box, the cd booting goes as far as a few rotations of the circle and then it freezes in the atiragepro driver. Happens as well with a rage128 pci card from the blue n white

happened after 10.1.4 to 10.1.5 update, too. Removing atiragepro.kext worked, I have the last revision beige g3

cheers,
Sven
