  I agree with everything you have said (below) , but in
my opinion , there just isn't the kind of momentum within
this community to ever , _ever_ get a project like that 
off the ground .

  Sadly , it's not really that big a task , if even a small
handfull of dedicated people were to put their heads together,
but even that is , unfortunately , another "pipe-dream" .

Just my opinion however .

   I tried to get the ball rolling by writing several tutorials
on the Wiki , hoping I could inspire others to do the same . 
Christ ! I couldn't even inspire others to get off their fat
asses enough to even post a mail here saying "nice job" or "way
to go" or "it sucks" ...

   The RS3D community is still here , but in a very "walking
wounded" sort of way , if you ask me . No idea what it would
take to change that , or how to inspire others to get more
active .
