How is it that you can import the Icarus exported file and I can not ? Both of us are on SP3 (**see my success below**) . > If you've got problems, you could easily strip all the viewpoint stuff in a > text editor. Thought so . Maybe I'll try that once my 3D Exploration Demo expires . > I still don't understand why Icarus exports all those cameras. > Did you make any camera animation in Icarus? Actually , it is just the example project that the manual says I should use , and it has a camera matched to the scene , but it must be matched in order for Icarus to know _Anything_ about exporting 3D vrml objects (I think). *********** Hey , went back into Icarus and found the control for exporting _without_ camera data ! Imported into RS3D with textures , no problems ! 52KB file (without textures) . > In my city export as shown on my website, there are about 11 viewpoints as a > sort of tourguide through the city but not so many as in the Icarus export. > These viewpoints are all individual cameras in the Realsoft scene. > Another thing I saw is that the export is very uneconomical. > I'm using VRML Pad to edit my vrml files. OK , thanks , I'll check it out . > I could see that a lot of the parts are individual triangles. which means > that you get a lot of tiny sds objects that should have been integrated into > one single object. Actually , I think those triangles are the data-points that Icarus uses to determine it's camera matching . It always exports those data-points so that you can match objects in your 3D application of choice . > Even in terms of VRML file sizes Icarus creates rediculously heavy files. > OK take this with a grain of salt as I know I'm picky in this area, as I can > easily strip 70K out of 80K Realsoft to VRML exported files in many cases. > Arjo. Really ? Can you export animated objects too ? Say a person walking , or a flag waving etc ? I know nothing about VRML but I have just been patiently waiting for the art to progess more . I look forward to the day when I can create effectively for 3D Stereo headsets . Big fan of 3D Stereo and with the graphic cards getting very powerfull now , many things are within reach , I think . Anyway , thanks for the help . garry > > > If you're going to exchange objects you'll end up with SDS in > > Realsoft as > > > most other applications are based on polygon objects. > > > AFAIK 3DS and OBJ objects are always polygonal objects.
