Hi Neil,

Thanks for clarification:- ) No worries, I'm not huffish, just was very suprised and this is why my reaction was a little exaggerated. Sorry for that.

Artur

I did not make it clear, Gary's (OneTrick) rants are historic and unchanging and his post above is even more abusive than most. I believe he means to provoke at any cost and in that belief he is, in my understanding, a troll.

I certainly do not think you, Artur, are in anyway trolling with any of your posts. They are constructive and open. Thank you.

Apologies again,

Neico.

I think, you just made a mistake saying that because you don't
even understand meaning of this term.

I would suppose that my email will be like a stick pulled into
ants nest, but I never would suppose to be called a troll
I'm not poroducing hundreds od emails trying to hurt anyone.
Especially the users of Realsoft to whom I have very strong
sentiment. If I did, please point me where.

Just wrote my observation about RS situation. Almost dead
users-list, no forums, dead official web page etc, no blogs.

Of course you are right, saying that a man with only a pencil can
produce uniqe masterpieces if he has a true talent.
But you must agree that the same guy would not want spent millions
of hours digging out what is the meaning of his five-hundreds
-buttons pencil to control every aspect of painting.

    Artur

        Artur :

         You're spelling your name wrong . It's Arthur , with a
        silent "H" . Google it .

Anyway , if I had to pick one mail to agree with the most ,
it would probably be your initial mail (below) , with the
abrasive Quebec burnout coming a close second . All obvious
RS baglicker viewpoints are immediately dismissed
of course (until the selfish bastards start creating
tutorials and/or sharing/spreading RS knowledge in this RS com-
        munity [will not ever/ever happen {oh well}]) .

        But I digress ...

I remember many moons ago a very.very talented guy by the
name of Igor P. laughed and suggested that true artists
        only need desire , talent & a free P.O.V. !

So very true , but POV was always a very capable App , with
        a huge community , and essentially bug-free , with a crazy
assortment of free plugins , and able to import/export
multiple formats from day #1 . POV's Gi/Radiosity (or whatever
method was used [no idea]) was years ahead of some commercial
        3D App's initial attempts .

Naturally , and it is a truly natural result ... Blender .

Yes , we know , RS/LW/Max/Si lovers , will be Blender haters
        . That's also very natural .

Most natural of all is to slowly gravitate to a warm &
        sharing group .

A dynamic community that offers positive feedback to
talented artists that share their secrets via many tutorials .

A group that is growing because it's true essence is
centered around an evolution that , hopefully , involves everyone
in one way or another , and if not , well , hopefully enough
talented contributors and dedicated users will work together
to , at the very least , slowly advanced the App , and maybe
even have their very own cutting-edge moments also .

So Pappy , riddle me this ... (OK?) .

*Is RS a reasonably evolving commercial 3D App ?*
No , not anymore obviously . If someone called it "dead" how
could anyone defend against that (except by furiously bag-
licking Finish ball sacks until mostly hair-free ) ?

*Is there any kind of dynamic community here ?*
No , silent for months at a time , except for certain V2.4
level nut-huggers mentioning how much they love RS because
it allows them to raytrace very very round things and some
rectangular things and some long & short pipe things too .

*Are RS community tutorials being added at a reasonable pace ?*
No , none at all , never , zero . It's all about gaining &
keeping secrets in order to secure their weak status in the
        group .

*How about 3D stills & 3D animation sharing ? That is a very
important part of progress & development , no ?*
No , just the odd nit-wit who shares a shitty ,
way-too-highly-compressed .JPEG without any rendering tips .

*Is there even a small , secret contingent of talented users
getting together and sharing offline ?*
No , not anymore . They still share very advanced video game
        strategies however .

*Does Finish Bag taste like N.A. or British or French Bag ?*
No , it's much saltier , but with enough licking will divulge
a secret email where lickers are allowed to slowly work
toward possible further knob engorgement , which may produce
even saltier results and a semi-sincere pat on the head .

*Are RS users coding free community Plugins ?*
No . In fact , Carlo gave DynAtomic away for free and nobody
even used it . Javascript is buggy and previous internal
script languages are about as defunct as rotten birch bark .

*Are newly released version bugs being discovered and then
dealt with at a reasonable pace by beta-testers ?*
        haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa ....
            haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa ....
                haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa ....
                    haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa ....
                         haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa ....

Beta-testers still can't even figure out 90% of the RS
program . Some are still trying to install V6 without any luck .

*Is RS presenting itself as a viable modern company that is
        very image conscious ?*
No , not since Satu left . You mentioned marketing ? Well ,
best marketing program RS could use would be a "So , do you
        want to become a 3D Beta-Tester? Ya Volt ? Good , just
purchase RS V7/V8 at full price , and then Beta-Test away to your
        heart's content , for absolutely free !"

*Is RS easy to use for simple stuff ?*
Yes , the same way a 127 propeller driven helicopter is ,
except not all engines are working and not all propellers are
going to turn when you need them to . Of course , 127
        propellers do require 387 levers , which are also kind'a , sort'a
hooked up , in a way , sometimes ... except when you really
need them to be ... and then no , not at all of course .

*Does RS come with a coupon to the 'Hair Club For Men' that I
can use after I've pulled all my hair out , and after I've*
*asked for help , but only to be told by some retard that "RS
(V2.0) is awesome and perfect from my needs" (slurp) .*

No , trade for & save all and any Finish bag hair that you
can later cough up into a hairball , and then dry & simply
        superglue
onto the scalp in tiny patches , then blend together with an
ink marker . (see chapter #693 for hairball gluing details) .

        Hi,

I'm with Realsoft since its versions for Amiga.
Unfortunatelly for this software, it's made by
programming&graphics enthuziasts that completely forget about
how computer software becomes popular. It's not due to hard
work of their authors - two Finnish brothers that spent a
milion of hours on writing such great software.
Respect and thanks for you guys!

Computer software becomes popular thanks to a bit of
marketing and mainly thanks to users that share their
knowledge about the program on blogs/forums, create tutorials
for others. Please look around and tell me how many tutorials
yo've seen? How many sites, blogs, forums or articles that
describes every single option/parameter in SDS or VSL you've
seen? Original manual is not enough even you spend many hours
for testing some options. RS never was easy to learn and use
software. His unquestionable power remain a mystery for most
of us (with some very talented exceptions of course).

Please take a look at modern renders from other software.
Using VRay you don't have to spent million of hours testing
hundreds of options to achieve reasonable GI results.
Dou you remember voices that said: "Hej, take a look at 3DS
its's cheating with reflections while rendering glass. RS do
this perfect with TRUE raytracying and lens made from glass
        in RS really works!"
And so what?! Look where is now 3DS and where is RS?

Take a look at pictures recently posted on this list. Do you
sees that? They are looking like first renders from the 90s
        (no offense Lee)

RS is very cheap, it's very powerfull but (sad but true) from
CG world point of view it's completely dead program.

Regardles of what I wrote above, I can't explain why I still
believe that something can change :-)

        Regards,
        Artur
