You honestly think that we can't help these people with their questions.

If I know what version of OOo they are using, I might be able to do so.

When the Cosmi website says OOo 1.2, I have no idea what version they are using.

Did you know that paragraph styles changed between OOo 1.1.4, and 1.1.3?

Did you know that OOo 1.1.2 (Japanese) has print options that are not
in OOo 1.1.3 ZA, nor in OOo 1.1.1 (US English)?

Did you know that OOo 1.1.3 ZA is different from OOo 1.1.3 (US English)?

It is little things like that, that make it mandatory to know what
version of OOo is using/based on. And also what changes the company
made to the product.

I don't know every little change between versions, and somehow I am able to help a few people. While little things may change, the basic elements of the program are the same. Even between 1.1.x and 2.0 I bet more has stayed the same then changed.

I still think, and I pretty sure I am right, that the better answer is to politely mention that they can upgrade and maybe try to offer some advice. If you can't do that without the version # ask them to go to Help > About. If that still doesn't offer, off help and if it doesn't work, then there is nothing you can do. But, I don't think rudeness is ever the answer.

**NOTE** The preceding paragraph is my opinion and not a mandate for any other user.
