Both. Neither method produces italic type.

Hadn't thought of that. Figured since there was an "Italic"
icon on the toolbar between the "Bold" and the Underline"
that that was where it was done.

I tried selecting, then "Format", "Character" - no italic
produced that way, either, even though under "Format", "Character"
I specifically selected (from the list) and applied "Italic".

It doesn't work whether I invoke it, then type, either.

This is really bizarre. And I'm not using some off-the-wall
obscure font, either - it's the good old default Bitstream Vera
Serif 12.

Maybe I've found a bug? Maybe it's time I upgraded anyway?
