Yesterday, I went back to the local discount store and did see the box of
TIDE tablets in the 3 kg size. The "3kg" (no space between the 3 and k on
the package)declaration was in the lower right. Under it in much smaller
font was the usual conversions to FFU. I believe it stated FFU 3 different
ways.

Also, there was a 2.2 kg box of powdered Tide in English on one side and
French on the other. On a few of the boxes, someone had covered up the 2.2
kg with a sticker displaying the FFU weight and a declaration of "Made in
USA". Almost every product that is SI only and destined for Canada that
they sell usually carries this additional label. Sometimes it is placed
over the SI, other times next to it, sometimes nothing at all. In most
cases, the package will have the size declared on both sides, and the
sticker only covers the declaration on one side, usually the English side.

The only time I did not see any stickers at all was a 500 g size of Vaseline
Petroleum Jelly. The sticker would have to be small to cover just the 500 g
declaration.

I don't know if the store itself adds the labels, or if some middle man
does. But, at least it's still a metric package.

Subject: [USMA:9884] Gillette continues to change

 To all:

Just got back home from my local Target store, as I needed to do
some shopping for my upcoming trip to Europe. I picked up a
Gillette package, which included a Mach 3 razor, a 25 ml vile of
skin lotion and a 75 ml can of shaving gel. I could not see the
volumes on the bottles themselves, as they were behind a label.
Yet the packaging itself included these volumes in fl.oz. (ml)
format. First of all, it is the first time, that Gillette uses
rational SI in its products. Second, shaving gel cans' volume has
never been in ml, but rather mass was expressed in oz. (g). Third
of all, on the back of the package, it gave some warning notes on
the heat exposure, cautioning not to expose to heat over 50
degrees C (using a degree symbol...how do you do that again?). No
conversion to F at all!!! Only English was used throughout the
package, so it is intended for sale in the U.S., I suppose. It
was made in the U.S. as well.

Another item of business, Catherine and I went to Seattle and
Vancouver, BC last month. One night we stayed at the Holiday Inn
Express in SeaTac. Besides being a nice hotel, we were provided
with a free continental breakfast in the morning. A small package
of "Country Churn Whipped Spread" attracted my attention. The
mass on the package stated: "Net Wt 5g". Nothing else. It is
manufactured by Alliant Foodservice, Inc. Deerfield, IL 60015,
USA. Thought I would provide an address in case somebody would
 like to send them kudos.

 Cheers,
 Nick
