Before I leave to go on my trip to houston for training, I like to leave my 2 cents, yen, wampum whatever. My stock 99 would cough all the time, even warm. My shop (a great bunch of guys) told me about the way max's come from the factory being very lean so the R1's and R6's can be shipped to maintain EPA fleet req. Before I found this tech list they showed me how to ajust the idle airscrews, they also sync'ed my carbs too (like I said nice guys) while they were at it. You would be suprized how far a brandy new V-max could be out of sync from the factory, anyway my max coughs every once and awhile when it is really hot. but not as bad, actually my shop said its the #3 cylinder and that to leave it alone untill I do mods to the bike that will require carb disasembly, and at that time we (they or most likely I ) will replaced the pilots as required for the mods. Vic. 99 max, and somewhere in the garage a pissed off 84 650 Seca turbo. marius wrote: I really appreciate the suggestions for my "coughing" |
