While you state that there are no restrictions in carburation I must
disagree. Not only in the way they limit the output through carburation but
also in ignition
timing and advance (the dreaded black box).As Tyler has mentioned before the
mains are smaller, different low speed circuit and also needle taper.I have a
friend in the U.K. that put some Cobra slipons on the bike with disastrous
results as far as performance with a slight change in exhaust. Thanks to
Tyler and others I sent the gent a set of stock U.S. needles, some shims and
a different set of low speed air jets as well as slightly larger mains and
he's a happy camper as far as I know.Yes your not limited as far as what can
be done but it's a real pain in the as- without the resourses.Just my
input.Again thanks for all the info provided by this list.

Tyler,
the European Max comes without any restrictions regarding what you can do
with the carburetion . Slide covers have no special tamper proof screw,
needles have five slots to choose from, idle mixture screws only have a
rubber protection to avoid rust, so I still believe that if there is a lean
mixture problem, we in Europe would have enough resources to sort out the
problem.

In my case I have tried adjusting the screws from fully closed (clockwise)
to four turns anti clock wise with no real effect on this sudden cough when
opening the throttle. I must say it is very annoying and what is more, it
can't be good for the engine.
