Bob,
What I meant when I said no carb restrictions it was only to emphasize the ones found
in US models, such as tamperproof screws, in some cases non adjustable needles,
special brass plugs that do not allow you to change idle mixture etc. Mine has none of
that and that is why I use the "non restrictions on my carbs" as opposed to the US
models ( I hear the Californian model is even worse ).

The original needles and main jets were perfect for the original exhaust system I had,
but now with the S7K I have 175 mains, totally different needles, bigger slide holes
and springs, air jets and so on ( I only keep the standard idle screws...), my bike
would have not worked if I hadn't changed the pipes and filters. Of course if you put
more mixture in you need more room to let the combustion gas out.

By the way, did you know that the Dynojet Stage 7 Kit for the European model is
exactly the same as the one sold in the US? It makes you think that there could not be
large differences between engines otherwise it would not work properly.

About your friend and his Cobra's, if you let the gas out freely, you are bound to get
less power from your engine, since the valve timing is designed for a certain amount
of backpressure on the exhaust, otherwise you let out part of the unburnt mixture,
thus letting some of the ponies run away. Most of the mods to the exhaust system mean
a change to the carburetion including filter & all.

But I'm sure you already know that.

Best regards,

Charles ( [EMAIL PROTECTED] )
