I cant even do an 'apt-get update', which is > advised before doing any upgrades. > (and s/edgy/feisty/g in sources.list is NOT recommended). > Its as if fc5, or Cent4, was pulled from the RH shelves. What i find strange > in all this is that there > is no mention on the ubuntu website proper and no hits on google (where's > edgy). Yet > archive.ubuntu.com/dists/ contains dapper, feisty, gutsy, hardy - no edgy I am not sure, but would be willing to bet that this is because Edgy was not a Long Term Support release, as Dapper was and Hardy is. Given that there have been three new releases since Edgy, and Canonical never planned to support it for more than 6 months, or whatever their non-LTS policy is, I can understand why they took it down. I have a Feisty disc you can have if you're looking for the f-step in your upgrade path. But I agree with others that you might be better off backing up and starting with a fresh Hardy install, since going through multiple dist-upgrades is going to mean a lot of download-and-install time spent on software you're just going to replace a few minutes later.
