Hi Mark, It comes down to where can the limited programming resources we have available best be used? To add an additional feature that will be used once only on a module and save some time once off for the module developer, or add a user feature that will be used by every player of the module every time they play?
Since I really don't have any problems at all aligning a hex grid with a pre-existing grid on a map, it's hard to get excited about 'fixing' the problem. I have documented the procedure I use in the FAQ (http://wiki.vassalengine.org/doku.php?id=faq_modules#how_do_i_align_the_vassal_hex_grid_with_my_scanned_mapsheet) and follow it every time. Trial and error plays only a very small part. It is guaranteed to find a solution. Perhaps I need to expand the description a bit? On average it takes me approx. 15 minutes to create and align a new grid on a map I have never seen before, regardless of map size, hex size or hex size to width ratio. I have had maps sent to me that where 'impossible' to fit a hex grid to, and had them done in 5 minutes. Cheers, Brent. >*********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** > >On 7/02/2006 at 9:11 PM Mark Wardell wrote: > >Is there an easier way to align a VASSAL hex grid with the printed hex >grid on a map beyond trial and error? > >Why can't we just set a couple/several points of the grid and have it >base the rest of the grid off them? > >~Mark ____________________________________________________________ Brent Easton Analyst/Programmer University of Western Sydney Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo!
