I think they are, Alan. The knurled handle rotates, there is a rotating joint from the metal to the rubber section, and the rubber section is a hinge. I’ve had mine for 15 yrs (I tie a *lot*) and this year the pads for the index finger and thumb are showing signs of wear. Otherwise – great. One other thing: they have a nice heft to them. You could hackle a fly halfway, do some honey-dos ant three days later J continue the hackle where you left off.
