If you just buy the sizes like say I want to buy .021 for a butt section, do I still just buy leader/tippet material or am i gettign into a different leader material?

I am the leader of lazy leader builders but my leaders last a long time. My rule of thumb is to drop .002 between tippet sections (every other "X") but your are talking butt to tippet. Being lazy, I start each season with a few Orvis (as in the loop is already tied) leaders and rebuild them all year long. Only once had to connect butt to tippet (had to cut my leader) and used 0X as it was what I had. That is a drop of .010 and was not a good match. There is a formula I'm sure someone will post. I guess my point is to gradually taper down so the knots tighten correctly.
