I am looking to produce some Spey flies that use a dubbing loop with arctic fox or rabbit strips. This may sound amateurish but I have never used a dubbing loop. Could someone help me?????

Keith, Try this: http://www.roughfish.com/dubloop.html

an addendum:

The technique I use is different than the illustrations on this web page.

I usually start the loop at the far rear of the straight part of the hook shank. I keep the thread under tension as I hook it into the two hooks on the dubbing spinner. (I prefer a spinner that keeps the thread loop open, not a single hook that keeps the loop closed).

After hooking the thread through the dubbing spinner, still under tension, I wind the thread back the the starting point of the loop. I try to catch the base of the loop with one wind of the bobbin holder, then wind the thread in loose wraps up the hook shank to the eye to keep it out of the way.

Insert your dubbing material as shown, then spin the loop to create a evenly spread dubbing chenille. If you do it right, you can end up wrapping the chenille around the hook shank as needed using the dubbing twister. I don't find it necessary to first remove the twister and then having to grab the loop with a hackle plier as a second step.

Then again, I taught myself, so I could be doing this completely wrong! Works for me, though.
