I don't know if anybody has mentioned this yet. But what I will do is (until I got a Norvise that is) take the thread cinch it down and split the strands with a needle or bodkin and place the materials between the strands and spin the bobbin. This is great for small flies because it is less bulk. You have to use the right thread, bonded multi strand will not work. A video shows this here: http://www.flyfisherman.com/ftb/kbvideos/
