Hello again,
There are 1/100th maribou jigs that you can buy and tye your self. They work fantastic fished under a strike indicator for just about any species of fish. But I use them for Trout in Rhode Island. Absolutely hammers the trout. I have had many 50 plus trout days fishing these when nothing else works. I am sure they would work in other parts of the country...

I invented jigs, so flyfishing with them is approved.Just be sure to use them correctly and protect my little fishies.DonObewan----- Original Message -----From: Scott SickauSent: Sunday, June 13, 2004 4:53 PMSubject: Re: [VFB] Jigs for flyfishingOk everyone, this subject is getting a bad rap and out of hand. Rob, I'm not sure what type of jigs these " poachers" are using but if I were to put money on a guess I'll bet the type of jigs that you are referring to are really snagging trebel hooks( these have a sinker molded to the bottom to help get the snagging hook out farther and down to the bottom faster) and they are not made to be thrown with a fly rod.I think that the 2 types of "jigs" are totally different and therefore should not be lumped together, besides the jigs we are speaking of could definitely bring a very large salmon or trout without breaking off.If this idea of using jigs ( anything under 1/80 oz. - 1/327 oz.) on a fly rod being a cardinal sin then I am guilty as charged, as I do use jigs on my fly rod, but only for panfish and not for trout.Rob, let's try and get the facts straight before arguing a point.
Scott
