There is nothing wrong with thinking outside the box!!!
I have friends that make their own jigs with molds.   I don't go that far.  I would use the Czech nymphs.  They look like a lot of fun.  The only thing that would keep me from using a heavier jig on my rod is my casting ability.  I don't use a lot of clousers yet.  I tie them for friends but I know I would probably break my rod if I used them myself.
If I listened to all the negative comments I got when I started tying I wouldn't be where I am today in my tying.  I still get some funny comments from my flies.  If anything they just pushed me to tie even better and have more fun with them.   I know they're getting noticed.
Cheers,
Deb

What is so wrong with using flies tied on jig hooks? It seems like we have all kinds of ideas, but none of them include the actual use of jigs. I personally have several flies tied on jigs. I use 1/100th and 1/80 ounce on my 6'6" 3 wgt. and have no problems casting them. I also have some 1/64 th ounce that I use with my 7 wgt. I see nothing wrong with using an item that is not a "standard" in the fly fishing world. Kevin
