The diagnostic plug was introduced partway into the `71 model year, early ones don't have it. Your speedo MAY have been replaced or it's possible that the car came with it, I don't recall for sure when they started using a "universal" speedo. Don't use your 4-way flasher knob as a place to hang a litter bag or whatever, I've noticed a higher failure rate among those so burdened. The only buzzer it should have is the one that sounds when you open the driver's door with the key in the ignition. Often these are unplugged intentionally. The driver's side doorjamb switch is special, with two sets of contacts (one for the domelight & one for the buzzer)...it may need cleaning too.
