Guys,
Is it possible to bolt on a complete late 60s engine and gearbox onto a
59 bug?? My bastardised-to-the-core 59 rag project came with such a package.
I remember people say that early engine BAYS were different. Now the 59s
engine bay has been cut in two areas almost in symmetry on the front firewall.
I had always wondered why. Even bought a 64 firewall from a scrapped dub to
yield two repair patches.
Now it dawns on me......perhaps the cuts were made to accomodate the later
style heater boxes??? Is my hunch right?? Looks like either Id have to drop
the idea of firewall repair or replace the heater boxes with J tubes. Early
boxes are almost non existent in the country.
