So THAT's why I've always had trouble getting a newer motor into an old 
car. I just figured I needed to juggle the motor a bit more until the 
heater boxes went past the firewall - and it always worked for me. A 
struggle, but doable.

The actual opening in the engine bay front to back is the same size, or 
nothing would work.
