It's done all the time. If you leave off the
heaterboxes (or one of them, anyway) until after the
engine's bolted in there's no need to butcher the
firewall, either. Repairing the firewall with the `64
piece should enable you get the engine in & out with
the heater boxes on, although it'll still be tight
because of the smaller engine compartment opening.
Worst-case you'll need to take off some or all of the
exhaust system when removing/installing the engine,
but you'll still be able to use the freshair
heaterboxes.
See how they handled the front mount issue. The right
way is to use a `60-`67 Type II nose cone and hockey
stick, but judging by their "workmanship" on the
firewall they probably did something half-assed there
too.
