     Thanks a million for this 'little' piece of info about the fuel pump. I 
never knew (or heard even from gurus) that we can encounter this issue with an 
alt conversion.
 
     I practically saw this in action when I went to see a 70 bug with a friend 
which had an alt and the earlier fuel pumpwhich was really squeezed in. Even 
the alt body was scratched! The pump was the rebuildable type and made in 
Brazil.
