   Thanks for the valuable input. In fact I will ask my fair share of questions 
when I do finally come round to actually fit the post 73 VW alternator. Yes I 
have the correct pedestal for it and that would need to be swapped too. This 
was bought with the alternator as was the fan, fan belt pulley and the two 
backing plates......which are crucial to direct cool air into the alternator.
 
   In this part of the world twin carbs are unheard of. So I would not need to 
worry about the linkage issues. Running a 30 PIC Brazilian Solex at the moment. 
I might have some probs with the electronic slowjet as it sits quite close to 
the original generator's body (the Japanese generator sits almost on top of the 
old original VW unit on a specially made bracket.......Wish I could post a 
picture to show). Lets see. Fingers crossed.
 
   I cannot imagine why a post 73 fuel pump would be different? I am quite sure 
theres loads of room around the pump. But I may be mistaken. Lets see.
