Scott,

In my case I didn't have to do any unplugging at all. The restore process
did its own ejecting and restarting of the device which is very easy to know
due to the sounds that are associated to plugging and unplugging something
into a usb port. The connector on the back of the ATV is simply a micro USB
jack similar to the ones found on many cell phones and accessories like BT
headsets and such.

Best,

Rick

Rick, the same process for the Mac. The only part I need to dig up is you
have to have it plugged in to ac power and then unplug it at a certain point
in the process as I recall.
If you remember that step then she'll be good to go. Oh and the connector
for the USB cable is under the HDMI connector, and is really thin.
