I've even cleaned my SE with a damp cloth. I have to wipe makeup off the thing 
all day long.

Sieghard, unfortunately in my case, the problem isn’t caused by a dirty iPhone 
screen. I wipe my iPhone at least once a day & remove the screen protector 
twice a week to clean under the screen protector.
