I feel the same as you, Christopher. I always welcome all suggestions, even and especially the obvious ones. When I get frustrated over a problem, I know that I can too easily forget one of the basic, obvious solutions.
Many years ago, I studied computer engineering for a couple years. I ultimately changed to another field, but I will never forget a story told to us by an engineering professor. He worked as a supervisor for a computer installation and repair company in the 70's. One day, a technician went out on a call. Half an hour later, the tech called and asked for assistance, so another tech was dispatched. When my former professor went out to see what was going on, four techs had been sent. He got there and found the large mainframe open, every board was out with meters showing proper functioning, and the technicians were very confused. As he looked behind the extremely large system, he noticed that a power cable was lying next to the socket rather than being plugged in. So, they plugged the system back in (the power had been unknowingly kicked out of the socket), and everything started working again properly. I always go back to basics when I am in my correct mind. After all, it is usually one of the basics that we accidentally overlook.
