Good morning,
As for me, I just don't like the bulk of a case - a caseless iPhone V fits just perfectly in my pocket, whereas with the case, it if very uncomfortable for me. So far so good in terms of no trauma or drama. I respect others who are concerned about protecting what is a rather valuable asset. I have taken my phone out of my pocket and thought I had a good grip on it and dropped it on concreet several times over the last 8 years. I always have mine in an otter box case. I like taking it out of my case from time to time at home, but I just feel much safer with a case. To each his own though. Whatever works for you. : viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of ROBERT CARTER Sent: Tuesday, February 04, 2014 6:14 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Using an iPhone without a Case Hi, As a general rule, I have never put my iPhones in a case. I think they are so awesomely perfect as they are. I do not put anything in my left pocket but my phone. That said, I bought the apple leather case with my iPhone 5s. I still prefer the phone without a case but as far as cases go, the apple case isn't bad. Yes, I know I have just given a totally mixed message. I have found that as a person who is very careful with his technology, a case on an iPhone really isn't necessary. I've recently put a bumper around it, which is very minimalistic, and I did it as much to give it some grippability as I did to protect it. I also got the bumper as a gift, and I'm not sure if I would have gotten it for myself. In the twelve or so years I've carried a smart phone, I've only dropped them a few times, and only once did I cause any cosmetic damage to the phone. I'm pretty good at keeping them in pockets or compartments by themselves or only with objects that aren't going to damage them, like ear buds. I don't keep them in the same pocket with my keys, coins or pocket knife for example. Smart phones are made to be pretty durable, and obviously, they're meant to be pretty thin and sleek. I just knew I took relatively good care of my phones, and I realized I was placing this very elegant device in a pretty cheap plastic or leather case. I just made the conscious decision that I paid a lot for this phone, and I wanted to enjoy it and not a $20 case. I'm not criticizing anyone who chooses to use a case for their phone. My wife is a very different person, and she views her phone as a tool, like a pen. She doesn't want to have to worry about it, and she wants to be able to just toss it into her purse or any pocket that's handy. For this reason, she has a Otter Box case for it. However, the iPhone without a case is certainly a more compact an sleek unit. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has chosen not to use a case. What protective measures do you take with your phone? For instance, do you put in a pocket or purse compartment that no other item occupies? Do you try to avoid using it in crowded areas where the chances of its being dropped are increased? Thank you.
