Although I like the idea of using an iPhone without a case, I'm one of those
guys who crams everything but the kitchen sink into various pockets in my
pants, shirts, jackets, et cetera. More often than not I carry my phone in
my left front pants pocket, which is also where I keep my keys, a nail
clipper and my mini Swiss Army knife. So I don't want my iPhone scratched
by all the paraphernalia that I carry around with me. Consequently I keep it
in an Otterbox case to protect it. A colleague of mine used to carry her
phone around without a case. Over time the back camera lens got seriously
scratched, and since the camera is important to me for use with apps like
Text Grabber, Camfind, et cetera, I further resolved to always keep my phone
in a case. I don't mind the extra bulk of the case since I carry so much
stuff around anyway.

The reasons for putting an iPhone in a protectivecase are very good
ones, and I don't want to devalue them. However, the iPhone without a
case is certainly a more compact an sleek unit. I'd be interested to
hear from anyone who has chosen not to use a case. What protective
measures do you take with your phone? For instance, do you put in a
pocket or purse compartment that no other item occupies? Do you try
to avoid using it in crowded areas where the chances of its being
dropped are increased?
