As I continue yanking on the tail of a very annoyed elephant it would be easy to personally conclude that the entire planet must be headed for another ice age. Why? Because it's reeeelie cold here in Madison! What's happening in Madison MUST be happening throughout the entire planet ...right???? One photo, circa 1930s, shows a car traveling down a narrow country road in the middle of a Wisconsin winter. Remember that Cecil B Demille film, the one with Charlton Heston playing some dude decked out in robes. You know, that scene where he "parts the waters?" Well, that's the imagery I envision when I look at that lonely iota of a car traveling down the narrow road hemmed in by snow dtuifully plowed and stacked up higher than 10 feet. Indeed, it was cold last year, and it's looking like it's going to be a repeater this time around too. But last year as I drove the icy winter Wisconsin roads, seemingly hitting every damned freshly carved pot hole the size of Tycho Crater it never felt like I was participating in a recreation of a Cecil B Demille film.
