You raise a key question -
Exactly what criteria differentiate "cold" from "hot" fusion?
For example, in pyroelectric fusion, D-D wave packets collide at "hot"
fusion speeds. It is unclear these high speed collisions occur in all
plasma experiments claiming successful LENR
- electrons, protons, ions, and other charged particles moving coherently
in a concentrated current arc collide with more energy than their
("bare") kinetic energy. This is analogous to why an arrow traveling at,
say 10 m/sec, can penetrate a target, but the point atom would bounce
off even if traveling 1000 m/sec if uncoupled from the arrow.
